ok, so maybe i might be a little out of sorts with this time change thing, but i had completely forgot to speak of my time in london before i blasted off to ireland... so here it goes... Hil (from my last trip) was kind enough to put me up for a night during my 28hr layover in london. i attended a class at the London Business School (basically the same as Ross, just with stiff upper lips), attended their happy hour (we have bigger glasses, they have theirs in the courtyard of their school), and then had some thai food at a pub (yea, who knew pub food = thai food???). kinda boring, but thought i'd give Hil some proper respect for the love.
we had originally decided that i needed a new running theme in this blog (fyi all the running themes are the same as last time), so she suggested that I somehow incorporate the letter Q into at least one picture at all locations... i accomplished this in england and ireland, but completely forgot in denmark. :( and i'll probably forget in sweden too, so maybe we should just K.I.S.S. and stick with the old ones...
everyone thank Hil for letting me crash at her place. Hil, tell your roomies that if they're ever in CHI, i have a couch waiting for them.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, patitos amarillos of all ages,
Come one, come all… the time has come to depart on another magical mystery tour…. Ok, I lie. It’s not really so much of a mystery, I kinda know exactly where I’m going (check the map above and the destinations listed on the right). But anyway, I digress. In an obviously logically structured intellectual exercise, I have come to the conclusion that, since I’ve spent the last 2 years accumulating debt, the best course of action for me is to spend MORE cold hard cash and travel throughout Europe, again. For those of you that remember my antics from my previous trip (shout out to Napa Wine Crew), I will be doing something similar but through different cities – I mean, why go back to the old stuff. As a wise 10 year old was renowned for saying to his parents “if you’ve seen one cathedral, you’ve seen them all”, so I won’t be revisiting any* of the sites from last trip. But alas, in view of the current news and “era” we live in, I will be injecting some…ummmmm… strength (yeaaaa…. Strength, not HGH or steroids...) into my schedule this time around and will be staying over in the Kingdom of Europe for almost 2 months.
Many of you are probably wondering the same thing noted 20th century philosopher and activist Freddie Mercury once asked “is this the real life?Is this just fantasy?”, well to answer your question Yes, this is real. And Maybe, this might also be a little bit of fantasy. But either way, feel free to join me on this wonderful journey and help me live my life vicariously through, well, myself.I’ll be keeping track of my adventures through this blog so you and your families can check up on the musings and quips of one Joseph D.
Just to bring all you newcomers up to speed, in this blog you’ll see certain trends emerging.First, I have the attention span of a kitten, so don’t expect me to stay on topic very often (I might sometimes, but consider yourself – ooh, bright lights – what was I saying???).Secondly, in order to help you keep track of the timing of these pictures (in case I don’t have time to put them up until the end), I’ll be growing a playoff beard and letting my hair grow out during this time (baseline = clean shave and fresh #2 all around the dome).Point C, don’t expect daily posts – mainly this is just boring and the real reason for this is to make sure my family knows I’m alive.Updates daily just seems like overkill / just listening to myself speak. bullet point iv; as an added safety measure, I will not be traveling alone this time, a brave classmate of mine has decided to join me on my travels (and between you and me, I don’t think Shubha knows what he’s getting into).Fifthly (is there a fifthly??? Am I allowed to say this?Well, someone has to make up the words.), I have a few recurring themes for this voyage.Let’s play a game and see if you can pick them out over the course of this journey (or you can just check out the side bar with them already listed out, but that’s kinda cheatin).
In summary, thank you for joining me on this trip and I hope all of you looking to waste time will find that this meets your needs.Feel free to share this link with anyone that knows me and is in need of time wasting entertainment.
